New York, New York
Amalgamated Bank is New York City’s oldest banking institution that since 1923 has served the needs of unionized labor and workers. ADG designed a new 6,000-square-foot bank branch for Amalgamated in a circa 1890s flatiron district showroom.
The heritage of the manufacturing industry is expressed in the design elements of the new space featuring exposed brick walls and metal ceilings. Even the original vaulted skylight was saved to give the room its period character. The bank has contemporary elements as well, with detailed American cherry millwork and glass and steel office partitions.
