OU Dorm and Dining Master Plan Underway

Norman, OK, May 7, 2012 — ADG was recently hired to lead a dorm and dining
master plan for the University of Oklahoma’s Norman campus. Kickoff meetings with administrators, students and consultants began in April.  ADG is supported in this effort by national student housing experts: architecture firm, Mackey Mitchell Associates, who specializes in buildings for education and residence halls, and Brailsford & Dunlavey, a firm that specializes in facility planning and financials for student life and athletics.

So far, the team has conducted needs assessment interviews, focus groups and a visioning session with senior administration. A thorough review of mechanical and electrical systems throughout the central student housing complex (towers, as well as ancillary buildings) has also been completed by ADG’s in-house engineering team. The design team has worked alongside OU’s facilities management team to focus special attention future growth opportunities on campus.

Visioning meetings and building assessments were followed by a survey sent out to over 22,000 students soliciting them for their input regarding improvement ideas for student housing and dining. The design team will work vigorously over the summer with plans to present the master plan to the OU community in the fall.
