ADG Program Management Announces Norman Elementary School Groundbreaking
Oklahoma City, OK, May 19, 2011 — Architectural Design Group, Inc., an Oklahoma City-based program management and design firm, joined Norman Public Schools Monday, May 23 to celebrate the groundbreaking for the new Ronald Reagan Elementary School located on a site in Norman between Lindsey and Highway 9 on SE 24th.
The project will be the only completely new school in the $107 million Norman Public Schools 2009 Bond Program. ADG is the program manager overseeing the improvements and construction for more than 20 projects in the District. The Stacy Group of Edmond is the project architect and Wynn Construction of Oklahoma City is the general contractor for the new $15 million elementary school.
According to the Stacy Group’s goal for design, the new facility will embrace a sense of community by building a “school within a school.” The 77,000-square-foot school, grades pre-kindergarten through 5th, will feature an international design theme and be divided into “pods” according to age groups. Each pod will represent its own country and culture. Energy efficiency and operating costs were also taken into account with a design that allows for natural day lighting and motion sensors to control lighting in common spaces.
Wynn Construction has already mobilized and started preliminary site work. The project is expected to be completed in August 2011.
